Drummer and composer Aleksandar Cvetković obtained education in his native Kraljevo and Belgrade and acquired the master of jazz drums in Graz, under the mentorship of Howard Curtis. He collaborated, jammed or attended seminars with many prominent jazz players, like Duško Gojković, Stjepko Gut, Mihailo Blam, Nikola Mimo Mitrović, Billy Hart, Brad Mehldau, Dave Kikoski, John Abercrombie, Ron McClure, Jimmy Cobb, Dave Liebman, Jim McNeely, Jerry Bergonzi. He recorded two albums as a member of the Serbian Jazz Bre! Project, one album with the Woodcock Group, took part in the Rambo Amadeus & Broken Swing Sextet, and today he is a member of the Marchelo & Napeti Quintet. He is an assistant professor of jazz solfeggio and jazz rhythm at the Department of Jazz and Popular Music at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

The Drama Quartet has its origins in the Drama Organ Trio, founded by Cvetković in 2014. Although the format of this line-up – with an organ acting as bass – inevitably suggested the soul-jazz of the sixties, it was only a starting point for an authentic sound, based on modern principles of jazz composition through various harmonic solutions, rhythms and meters. They quickly became one of the favourite club bands and prepared their debut album Dramathology with ten of Cvetković’s songs. The album of the current line-up will be premiered at the 37th edition of the Festival.
