The Ghost Horse sextet is a natural evolution of the Hobby Horse collective, one of the leading ensembles of the Italian jazz underground. The trio released six albums, mesmerizing audiences and critics with their reckless approach and unpredictable music flow. Ghost Horse includes young winders Glauco Benedetti and Filippo Vignato (the former performed at the Yellow Squeeds festival two years ago, and the latter presented his trio in 2020), as well as Gabrio Baldacci, leader of Gruppo Formica and longtime collaborator of Gianluca Petrella. Hobby Horse founders have also been involved in a number of other projects as sidemen, leaders or co-leaders: Dan Kinzelman also leads the band Ghost, Stefano Tamborrino helms bands Don Karate and Seacup, while Joe Rehmer is also a member of the collective trio Drive.

Ghost Horse sprout from the rich humus of Latin American and African polyrhythm, creating a dark and mysterious ecosystem. They break down and re-combine the free-jazz, hip-hop and blues elements with fascinating results by mixing different ingredients. The tracks on their debut album Trojan (2019) were inspired by the struggle for land and the right to water during the colonization of North America. These topics are tragically relevant even today, amid a global dialogue on resource exploitation, mass migration, economic and digital warfare, building on the environmental collapse threat.
