Sérgio Carolino – tuba
Mário Delgado – guitar
Alexandre Frazão – drums

No, TGB doesn’t stand for “The Greatest Band”, although we wouldn’t be wrong because the trio brings together prominent Portuguese jazz figures. It actually stands for the names of their instruments (Tuba, Guitarra, Bateria/Drums), stressing out their original format. The trio has been around since 2003, and so far, they released three albums Tuba, guitar and drums (2004), Evil Things (2010) and III (2019) for the leading Portuguese jazz label Clean Feed Records, the undisputed leader in the European avant-garde in the 21st century.

Sérgio Carolino is the band’s creative and virtuoso driving force. His curiosity leads him to explore different musical paths and languages. He also achieved an international reputation in classical music, at the same time achieving exceptional results in jazz, funk and improvised music. Mário Delgado is engaged in various genres, being interested in both acoustic music and electronic manipulations. He also works in improvised music with the trio Lokomotiv and was the first Portuguese musician to record an album (Filactera, 2002) for Clean Feed. Alexandre Frazão has collaborated with many influential artists and bands in Portugal, including Bernardo Sassetti, Mário Laginha, Mário Delgado and Carlos Martins, as well as the Dead Combo collective. He is back at the Festival, where he first performed in 2007 in the Maria João band.
